My yearly nerd pilgrimage

April 21st, 2008

This weekend I will be making my now annual yearly nerd pilgrimage to a random US city for Neowindex. This year we’ve selected Seattle as our destination, last year I “hosted” the inaugural event in Chicago (which is odd considering I’m from Kansas City) but my friend Brad who I’ve known longer then I’ve probably know Sadie but never met lives in Washington and will be hosting this year.

Some of the fun events that I’ll be taking part of include a visit and tour of Valve Software’s HQ (the people who make the game Half-Life) as well as a visit to the Microsoft campus visitors center.

But as of today, we’ll also be visiting one of the boats of the show Deadlest Catch (I don’t know the name of the ship, but it’s Capt. Sig Hansen’s ship). I have not really watched the show a whole lot, but it’s still going to be really cool. We’ve been told we’ll get a 30 minute tour of the boat and then we’re going out of the town with the crew. How cool is THAT!?

I’ll take as many pictures as I can and probably be posting pictures to my blog on Neowin.

Update

April 20th, 2008

For anyone who is curious, I thought I would provide a quick update. I am almost finished with my internship at KPMG, just two more weeks. It has been a great experience and I’m hopeful that I will receive a full-time offer for the Fall of 2009. That seems like so far away, but it seems like just yesterday I was trying to decide which firm I wanted to intern with and now the internship is almost over. Once I finish the internship, I’ll be rushing to write the paper and finish the class so I can participate in graduation on the 16th. I’m very excited for graduation, I must say this last semester leading up to graduation would have taken forever if I had been taking classes, but instead it has just flown past.

Two weekends ago Kristi and I spent a day putting together wedding invitations, it was a process, but I could not be happier with them so it was well worth the effort. We will be sending them out soon. YAHOO! The guys all went to be fitted for their tuxedos yesterday, they’re all very excited about the colors I have chosen :). There is still a lot of wedding work to be done. From finalizing the menu to deciding the flavors of the cake to meeting with the florist to make sure we’re on the same page about the flowers, as I have changed my mind a bit. It’s stressful, but really fun.

Anyway, hope all is well with you, email us and let us know how you’re doing!

New Home

December 16th, 2007

We have not posted in a long time so I thought I would add a quick note. As I’m sure many of you know, we have moved. We’re very excited to be in Overland Park.  Michael is driving a little more in a week now than he was driving in a day before, so our gas expenditures have gone down A LOT! I’m starting with KPMG on January 3rd and hoping to be on Overland Park clients close to home; we’ll see how that works out. We have stockings hung by the fireplace and a wonderful 6 foot tall tree, it looks a lot like Christmas around here. We have a good sized fenced back yard for the Gusman, so he’s a happy camper! I’m going to post pictures of our Christmas decorations, but it’s going to take a few days to get pictures of the place as a whole up. I’ve been so busy finishing up school (YAY!), and I’m taking the GMAT on Wednesday that keeping the house clean has not been a priority. After Wednesday I’ll get on that so expect more pictures this weekend. However, photos aren’t nearly as fun as seeing it in person, so give us a call and come over we’d love to see you. Michael sent out an email awhile back with our new address, but I’m sure not everybody received it, if you do not have our new address and you would like it please send us an email: happycouple@michaelandsadie.com

stonypointhall.com Website Update

October 25th, 2007

Russell who runs Stony Point Hall e-mailed me this week to let me know that they have posted some updated pictures of the finished hall. This is where we’re set to be married on June 14th.

We were very nervous committing to a place that back in May was little more then a field and a shed but it has turned out very well and is a unique setting. The reception hall looks fantastic inside now. We are looking forward to spending our special day, with all of you, at Stony Point!

Blogging with Windows Live Writer

October 13th, 2007

I know this is a really nerdy thing to talk about in a wedding blog, but I’m testing out Microsoft’s new Windows Live Writer. It lets us blog directly to the site from a little application built into Live Messenger.

Anyway, please ignore me for a moment as I "nerd out" :)
